Our Story
Horst Physical Therapy was established in late 2020 with a simple goal of providing quality, personalized physical therapy to the community we call home. We officially opened our doors in February 2021, bringing a locally owned approach to patient care right here in Vinton.
Since then, we've continued to grow while staying true to what matters most, building genuine relationships, providing individualized care, and treating people like people.
MEET THE OWNERS
Patrick Horst, DPT, PT, CIDN
Owner | Physical Therapist
A Vinton native, Patrick earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Clarke University in 2017. He enjoys treating a wide variety of conditions, with a particular interest in running gait & biomechanics. His additional training includes certifications in Level 3 Dry Needling, LSVT BIG, and Rehab of Injured Runners.
Outside the clinic, Patrick stays involved in the community by providing medical coverage at Vinton-Shellsburg High School sporting events. When he's not working or spending time with the family, you'll likely find him out for a run, playing pickleball, or enjoying a game of darts.
Kristine Horst, MBA
Co-Owner | Administration
Kristine earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Iowa and her MBA in Data Analytics from Colorado State University. With a background in healthcare administration and medical insurance dating back to 2015, she oversees the business side of Horst Physical Therapy and helps patients navigate their insurance and billing questions.
Outside of work, Kristine enjoys spending time with Patrick and their daughters, Audrey and Elsie. The girls occasionally join Mom and Dad at the clinic, so don't be surprised if you see a couple of little Horsts running around!
MEET OUR TEAM
Rosemary Santoiemma-Klopping, PT, MPT
Physical Therapist
Rosie joined Horst Physical Therapy in January 2024 and enjoys treating patients of all ages, with a particular interest in pediatric and geriatric physical therapy, as well as women's health. She provides women's health services at the clinic and enjoys helping patients improve their mobility, maintain independence, and feel confident in their everyday activities.
Kathleen Rippel, DPT, PT
Physical Therapist
Kathleen earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Des Moines University in 2023 and joined Horst Physical Therapy in February 2026. She enjoys getting to know her patients and helping them work toward their individual goals. While she enjoys treating patients of all ages and a variety of conditions, she has a special interest in pediatric physical therapy. Kathleen is also Level 1 Dry Needling certified.
Sierra Higgins, PTA
Physical Therapist Assistant
Sierra graduated from Kirkwood Community College's Physical Therapist Assistant program in 2009 and joined Horst Physical Therapy in April 2022. She brings experience from a variety of healthcare settings, including outpatient therapy, hospitals, long-term care, and home health. Her diverse background allows her to work with patients of all ages and a wide range of conditions.
Outside of her role as a PTA, Sierra also offers massage therapy services through her own practice, conveniently located within the Horst Physical Therapy building.
